Arriving at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City? Vietnam’s Pre-arrival Information (PAI) system lets foreign travelers send their travel details online before landing and save a confirmation QR code for use during entry procedures.
The system began as a pilot at Tan Son Nhat in April 2026. The Immigration Department’s published guidance encourages travelers to complete the declaration; it does not describe the pilot as mandatory. Check the official portal and your airline’s latest instructions as your departure date approaches.
When and where do I complete the form?
Submit the declaration within three days before you enter Vietnam at prearrival.immigration.gov.vn. You can use a phone or computer.
Select “Create and submit declaration” and follow the instructions for your passport, visa and journey details. Take an extra moment to check your flight number: an incorrect number can prevent your information from matching the flight record. Once submitted, save the generated QR code on your phone or print it.
What happens when I land?
Keep your passport, applicable visa documents and QR code accessible when you reach immigration. An officer may ask to see the code. The declaration can help make arrival more straightforward, but it does not guarantee a shorter queue or replace the usual entry checks.
Is the PAI form the same as a Vietnam visa?
No. PAI is for pre-arrival travel information. If you need a visa, you must arrange it separately under the rules that apply to your nationality and trip.
