LUANG SAY CRUISE (Down Stream)
Highlights: Houei Xay – Pakbeng – Luang Prabang Trip duration: 2 days Level: Deluxe Trip Description The LuangSay Cruise operates on board two specially designed boats: Pak Ou 2, 22.40 meters long, and Pak Ou 3, 35 meters long. Both boats were constructed using exotic wood and are nicely decorated with local handicraft. They offer similar facilities: one deck with 40 to 45 comfortable seats, bar corner with cool box, luggage compartment and toilets and one sundeck. Both boats are equipped with life jackets. The LuangSay Cruise includes one night accommodation at LuangSay Lodge. The Lodge is built along the Mekong River, 1 km upstream from Pakbeng village. The Lodge consists of Lao traditional wooden pavilions on stilts, a terrace bar and a restaurant. The 19 rooms, all equipped with fan and private bathroom with hot shower, have a private balcony overlooking the river

Foreign tourists are generally admitted to Laos for 15 days with a visa on arrival or for 30 days with a visa issued at a Lao embassy. A Laos TOURIST visa is usually issued for a SINGLE entry within three months from the date of issue for a period of stay not to exceed 30 days. The visa may be extended in Laos for a further 15 days. Passport must have at least six months validity remaining, and one blank visa page in order for the visa to be issued. Detail itinerary Day 1: Houei Xay - Pakbeng Meet upon arrival at Houei Xay immigration checkpoint and transfer to the boat pier. The LuangSay boat leaves Houei Xay pier at 09.00 AM for a cruise down the Mekong River to Pakbeng. En route, one stop is made to observe rural life along the Mekong and discover minorities. Buffet lunch on board. Arrival in Pakbeng before sunset and check-in at the lodge. This rustic town-village sits on a steep hillside and offers spectacular views over the Mekong River. Day 2: Pakbeng – Luang Prabang Breakfast at the lodge. (Optional: walk to Pakbeng market, where people from the surrounding village of minorities exchange their goods). Board the Pak Ou boat at 08.30 AM for the second leg of the cruise towards Luang Prabang, with a short stop to discover a Hmong village. Buffet lunch on board.Continue to Pak Ou village at the mouth of the Nam Ou River, and visit Tam Ting, "Caves of a thousand Buddha's).
