An overview
Nestled at the area of Phong Nha- Ke Bang National Park on the bank of Chay River, Dark Cave is a typical tectonic formation from 400 to 500 years ago. This place is also a historical site that witness both glories and sufferings during the war. During the war against the United States, Dark Cave was used as a safe shelter to avoid bombs of the enemy. Therefore, Dark Cave is also a place full of Vietnam’s history.
Discovered in 1992 by The British Cave Research Association, the cave was named Dark Cave because the dark night covered every corner of the cave.

What makes Dark Cave attractive?
One highlight of the Dark Cave is that there is a broad collection of colorful stalactites including old, stained, lemon yellow, lime white spot color stalactites. Moreover, Dark Cave also possesses special stalactites that own ferns parasites which is rarely seen in other caves in any place. According to scientific research, these stalactites are the result of strong geological movement. Additionally, Dark Cave also becomes the home to such animals as bat and swift.

Dark Cave has a length of 6 kilometers and especially, it is considered to be Son Doong-miniature. During the rainy season, that the water level rises has created an ideal and favorable condition for mud to accumulate, thereby promoting the development process of forming large natural mud pool. This pool with essential minerals will certainly provide excellent massage service to help them obtain full relaxation.
